Below are three factors to consider when deciding to accept a job or not:

1. Title and salary. Title gives you an idea of the duties and responsibilities of the job while salary information allows you to know your worth. If the title corresponds to your expectations on the nature of the job and the proposed salary matches your worth, then go.

2. Bonuses and other benefits. Bonuses add weight to your total compensation package while benefits include health and dental insurance, among others. The bigger the bonuses and the more comprehensive the benefits are, the better for you.

3. Start date.
Your start date should always be included in your job offer letter or else, you will be left hanging in the air and it’s not a good sign.

After you have passed the job interview, you wait for the job offer to reach you. When it finally lands on your lap, you don’t accept it outright. This is the most crucial point in job hunting: evaluating the job offer.

A job offer tells you a lot about your potential employer, your competence and your value to the company. It also gives you an idea of what your job responsibilities will be as well as the salary you will get once you accept the job.

Some job offers are communicated over the telephone while other are sent through letters or even in person. Professionally speaking, it is proper to respond to a job offer within two to four days. This period of time is enough to weigh things and make an educated career decision.

Job search documentation has many purposes. First, it serves as a quick reference guide of your job applications. This is especially true for job seekers who apply to every job ad available. Sometimes, this strategy can be confusing and to avoid getting lost, keeping a record of the companies to which you sent resumes is the most logical solution.

Second, it saves you time and energy when locating contact numbers of companies and the people you get connected with as part of your networking scheme. Documentation is not only a good way to enhance your organizational skills, but it also helps you focus as to which job application you should prioritize in making follow up calls.

To get the job, a job seeker has to stand out from the rest. He should be able to sustain the interest of the hiring manager to the point that the latter will realize that his qualifications are what the company truly needs. To speed up the job search, certain strategies should be put into place. Here are some of them:

1. Be persistent. Persistence is a key ingredient when finding a job. Once you have submitted your resume, the next step is making follow up calls to know the status of your application. By being persistent, you send a clear message to the company that you really want the job and are ready to prove it.
2. Be confident. This is particularly helpful during the interview. It is a given that you should make a lasting impression. Do this by talking about your accomplishments.
3. Be prepared. Most of the time, the hiring managers ask applicants to throw in questions. Research about the company so you get some ideas as to what you should be asking.

A professional resume is a very powerful tool in seeking employment. Employers get their first impression from the resume submitted by job applicants. Job hunting always involves making a professional resume.

There are three kinds of resume:

1. the traditional resume- this resume has all the basics, including nice formatting. The highlights are the educational backgrounds and accomplishments through the years.
2. the scanned resume-this version is a narrowed down version of the traditional resume that comes in plain text for easy scanning into computer databases. It emphasizes key accomplishments.
3. the web-based resume- this version is similar to the traditional resume but it is uploaded on personal web pages so that it is readily available to potential employers.
